Rachel & Matthew at The Green
Updated: Mar 6, 2019
A throwback to one of my first elopement weddings at The Green back in September 2014. I've had the honor of photographing nearly 40 weddings at The Green wedding venue since then, and am still obsessed with it's beauty and rustic countryside charm.
"We received our wedding pictures yesterday and I have to say I am thrilled with them. We got married in September in Cornwall and Kate captured our day perfectly. I was surprised with some brilliant shots she got of our 1 year old daughter who refuses to pose for photos at the minute. She listened to everything we said and we could not be happier with these beautiful images of our day. I feel like I want to get them ALL blown up and displayed all over our house. Thank you so much Kate x"
I received a message through my Kate Fierek Photography Facebook page from Rachel last year: 'We live in London, but are having a tiny very intimate ceremony at The Green wedding venue near Liskeard, and would like you to be our wedding photographer'. As city dwellers they loved the idea of escaping to the countryside to tie the knot, and The Green was just perfect for them. With its stunning views, peaceful surroundings, and rustic charm it really is one of my favourite weddings venues to photograph.
Rachel & Matthew rented one of the small cottages for a few days, and chose to have the ceremony inside the cottage itself. With just the happy couple, their young daughter, and their mothers present, it was a very personal wedding - with a wonderfully relaxed feel.
After the nuptials we took a stroll through The Green grounds to take some newlywed wedding photographs. We were absolutely spoiled for choice with locations: The oak arbour, the sloping grass walkways, the lake, the wooded areas, rustic gateways, and the viewing point - with a backdrop of a rolling countryside that stretches on for miles .... to name but a few. We managed to get loads of lovely shots in under half an hour, but I could have easily spent all afternoon there! The soft September light made the venue even more beautiful, and I had to tear myself away so that the couple could continue with their plans for the day.
I left them celebrating with their family in the cottage; sipping champagne and waiting for a private chef to arrive to cook them up an evening feast.
Their plan was to relax on their own in the cottage for a couple of days after the wedding, then continue the wedding celebrations with a big reception back in London.
